the Grid to Create a New Study (Continued)
To begin entering information into the
Grid, click in the name field of the first row.
The Variable Name is simply a
name or phrase that may be used to reference the variable when designing
analyses. The variable name is optional...you don't have to type a
variable name, but its use is highly recommended. You'll use the
variable names in designing analyses, so choose variable names that have
meaning to you. As a general rule, the variable name is a short word or
abbreviation. It can't be only a number.
In this study, the first variable is
gender, so type Gender as the variable name. It is often convenient to
use variable names that reference the question number on a survey (e.g.,
Q1, Q2, Q3a, Q3b, Q3c, Q4, etc.).
